INTEMA (Mar del Plata) is a research institute focused on material science that belongs to the National Research Council of Argentina. It is a reference on catalysts, polymers, biomedical materials, ceramic, nanomaterials, metallurgy, bioelectrochemistry and corrosion. On the bioelectrochemistry group, headed by Dr. Juan Pablo Busalmen, four assistant researchers, two postdocs, three PhD students and one technician, carry out research on electrogenic bacteria and microalgae on areas like proteomics, basic electrochemistry, physiology and the development of new electrode materials, wastewater treatment and carbon fixing technologies.
